What is a microcrystal microdermabrasion facial?
Microcrystal microdermabrasion is an advanced exfoliation method that uses microcrystals to remove dead skin cells from the skin’s surface. During the treatment, these tiny crystals are blasted onto the skin at high speed and then vacuumed away, effectively polishing the skin.
Using this gentle yet highly effective method, you can successfully treat:
- Age spots
- Mild acne scars, stretch marks
- Dull, light-damaged skin
- Enlarged pores and impurities
- Excessively keratinised skin
- Pigmentation disorders
- Uneven skin texture
- Fine lines and wrinkles
NOTE!
Microdermabrasion is not recommended for those with active acne, acne medication, skin rashes, cold sores, changing moles, or skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis.
How is microdermabrasion performed?
You can get microdermabrasion on your face, neck, back, hands or chest.
A typical crystal microdermabrasion session lasts around 30 minutes and uses a wand with a tip made of aluminum oxide or sodium bicarbonate. During the treatment, fine crystals are gently sprayed onto the skin to exfoliate the top layer, while a suction device removes the used crystals and dead skin cells. This reveals fresher skin and helps boost collagen production, encouraging healthier, smoother skin over time.
The procedure is performed using the Reviderm SkinPeeler, a highly specialized tool designed for precision and effectiveness.
Before and after microdermbrasion
Before
- Avoid aggressive exfoliation and salicylic acid in treated areas.
- Stop using retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, and benzoyl peroxide for at least 5-7 days before the procedure.
- Refrain from using chemical hair removal creams on the treated skin.
- Avoid tanning beds and direct sun exposure the day before the procedure.
After
- Keep your skin hydrated as it will experience increased water loss.
- Apply broad-spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen daily to protect against UV damage.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 7-10 days after the treatment.
- Refrain from using harsh skincare products, like exfoliating acids and alcohol-based toners, for 48 hours.
NOTE! Your skin might be a little red, swollen, or sensitive for up to 24 hours after the procedure. However, there’s no need to worry – our beauty experts may recommend a soothing cream to calm any irritation.
Microdermabrasion results
Right after the procedure, your skin will look smoother, brighter, and healthier. You’ll notice a reduction in dullness, and your complexion will appear more vibrant and refreshed. The skin’s texture improves, with finer lines looking softer and pores appearing smaller. Additionally, skincare products will be absorbed more effectively, enhancing their results.
For the best long-term results, a series of 5–10 sessions, spaced 7–10 days apart, is recommended. This helps address deeper skin concerns like pigmentation, acne scars, and wrinkles, providing sustained rejuvenation.
After completing the initial course, regular maintenance treatments every 4–6 weeks will help keep the skin in optimal condition and prolong the benefits of the treatment.

FAQ about crystal microdermbrasion
What are the primary benefits of microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion boosts skin cell turnover, reduces hyperpigmentation, improves skin texture, minimizes pore size, and boosts collagen production for firmer, smoother skin, along with many other rejuvenating benefits for your complexion.
When is the best time for microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion can be performed year-round, but it’s most effective during cooler months with less UV exposure. It’s also great after seasonal changes to help restore the skin’s natural barrier.
Can microdermabrasion be combined with Botox or dermal fillers?
It’s recommended to wait 10-14 days after Botox or filler treatments before having crystal microdermabrasion. This prevents interference with the injectables. Microdermabrasion enhances product absorption when done before, but should be performed at least 48 hours prior.
How often should microdermabrasion be performed?
For mild concerns, treatments every 4-6 weeks are recommended. For moderate issues like fine lines or acne scars, every 2-3 weeks may be needed. For severe concerns, such as deep wrinkles or scars, weekly sessions may be necessary. The exact schedule will be determined by our beauty experts.
Is microdermabrasion painful?
Microdermabrasion is painless procedure. The sensation is often mild, with some feeling of abrasion or suction. Any redness usually disappears within a few hours.
What does an optimal post-treatment skincare routine include?
Use a gentle hydrating cleanser, hyaluronic acid serum for moisture, and a barrier-repair moisturizer. Don’t forget daily SPF 50 sunscreen to protect the skin and maintain results.
